Illumise: Bug Type

Illumise fell to her knees as her foe stood above her, absorbing her energy into him. She couldn’t let him do this! If she died now, she would never be able to travel the world, to see every sunset, to dance the perfect dance. She fell onto her hands, gasping for breath. But how could she overtake him? The pain was almost unbearable causing her vision to start going dark. She punched the ground in frustration. NO. No, she wasn’t going to give up! She clenched her teeth and pulled herself slowly back to her feet. Looking her enemy in the eye she growled, “I will not lose to you.”

Once a year, Illumise and Volbeat will travel long distances to get together and celebrate for a week. The types of celebrations vary from group to group, but all of them will involve at least one night of sky dancing. Sky dancing is where Volbeat and Illumise will use the light they give off from their tails to paint designs in the sky. Each design is unique to the Pokemon and is something they work their whole lives on to perfect. Illumise designs tend to be very geometric and the light that comes from three small spots on Illumise’s backside will linger in the night air until they are done with their designs. If an Illumise and Volbeat have a similar sky dance, they will often get together and become lifelong partners.

To gather other Illumise and Volbeat for the week of lights, Illumise will let off a sweet fragrance that only other Volbeat and Illumise can smell. The more Illumise are in a group, the stronger the scent will be and the more the others will gather. Only during this week can the Illumise let off their fragrance. The main celebration lasts all night long, and will occasionally extend into the day time.

Illumise are mostly active at night, often building homes around other nocturnal Pokemon as to not disrupt anyone's sleeping with their night dancing practice. Their homes will often be built low to the ground in cooler areas. Most do not like the cold, but they loathe the heat even more. During the day they will sleep, although their antennae are always on the lookout to see if another Pokemon is creeping up on them.

Illumise Traits

Allignment: Although they are willing to help others, they will often require compensation in return. They spend most of their time and life perfecting their dances and will be extremely upset if anyone negatively critiques their designs, but the opposite is true if they get positive feedback. They may even feel indebted to a Pokemon who says their designs are artwork.

Abilities: Pick One

Oblivious: You squint your eyes. The Pokemon in front of you is doing...something. You're not sure if you should try to help them out or if you should run away from them. What on earth are they trying to do?

You are immune to the charmed and frightened condition.

Tinted Lens: You wipe the water off of your face and smile. Oh yeah, you got this game in the bag. The way you see it, even your weakest attack can take them out, so why not make this a bit of a challenge for them and use that attack.

If you use a racial attack that would normally be resisted by another creature, it acts as if it was neutral to the creature.

Prankster: You bounce up and down in anticipation, the trap is set. Now all you have to do is wait for them to make a move and you will have them.

Non-damaging racial attacks that require your bonus action can instead be used as a reaction outside your turn.

Light Trail

The three spots on your backside can glow and at night time can even leave a small light trail up to 10 feet long for 10 minutes, allowing you to see +25 feet in partial darkness and +15 feet in complete darkness from where the light path is. This is a temporary trait, when the sheet is finished it will be updated.

Illumise looked up at the night sky in wonder. There were hundreds of glowing paths floating in the air from the other Illumise and Volbeat’s dances. It was breath-taking to see all the intricate patterns just hanging there as if someone had stuck them to the sky with a pin. As she watched the Pokemon dance gracefully with one another, someone tapped on her shoulder causing her to turn around quickly. Behind her stood a Volbeat, his face a bright red as he offered her his hand. Was he asking her to dance? No, there was no way this was happening…. Things like this never happened to her.
