Duskako: Flying / Ghost Type

Duskako took a deep breath in trying not to show the excitement she felt on her face. This town was sick, some sort of virus was going around from creature to creature causing them to quickly lose strength and barely cling to life in a matter of a few days. They were all very sad and desperate, but for her this was everything she had always wanted. She had spent most of her life helping others get well from illnesses she knew of, but this was something entirely new and the thought of trying to find a cure made her body shake with joy.

Healing

Although they may look scary and intimidating, Duskako are actually kind souls who are naturally well versed in healing magic. Many of them will spend a good portion of their lives learning from older Duskako how to cure disease and once they have learned all they can they will start to travel around looking for a place where their skills are needed. The white part on their face and beak is extremely sensitive. When Duskako are around deadly poisons or creatures with diseases the white parts of its body will become extremely cold to the touch sending shivers down the spines of anyone who touches it. They have gained the nickname ‘Spirit Doctor’ because when around the sick they feel as cold as the dead.

Flying

You have a flying speed of 60 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor. (see flying speed for more information). This is a temporary trait, when the sheet is finished it will be updated.

Red Glow

Many creatures will mistake Duskako for some strange, misshapen Duskull. However they are in no way related to one another. Because of this misconstrued information many creatures will give Duskako a wide berth, scared of what evil, ghostly powers they could hold. It is said that their glowing red eyes can know the true desires of whoever it gazes upon, however only a select few Duskako actually have this ability.

Sickness

Duskako will spend most of their childhood learning how to heal others and ward off diseases. When they get old enough they will head out on their own looking for a sick town to help cure. Once they find one they will set up their own doctor practice and help anyone who walks in. If they wander into a town that another Duskako lives in they will quickly leave and look for a new one not wanting to challenge the other bird. Some will never settle down in one town, preferring to be wandering doctors who help guide those who are sick and lost.

Duskako Traits

Allignment: If you aren't frightened of Duskako’s looks and give them a chance, you will find that most of these birds just want to help others out and will even go as far to protect those that have been weakened by disease and sickness. They often feel that bacteria and viruses give creatures an unfair disadvantage at life and will do everything they can to balance it back out.

Age

80 years old is the average lifespan for most Duskako. Most creatures will say this short life span is due to the fact that they are often spending most of their time and energy helping to cure others of potent diseases. The stress and unknown illnesses will quickly take their toll on the small bird's body causing its immune system to weaken and give out causing its early death.

Languages

You can speak, read and write Common and Eknamish. Many Duskako tend to speak in a cryptic style. Putting pauses in strange areas in the middle of a sentence with the birds claiming it’s for dramatic effect.

Nature

There are 30 natures, pick a nature that best describes your character. Increase and decrease the appropriate stat accordingly.

Racial Ability score increase

When it comes to ailments and diseases you are naturally good at finding cures, your early days studying could also have something to do with it. At Level 1 your Wisdom ability score increases by +1 and at Level 7 your Intelligence ability score increases it by +2. See rules on racial ability score increase for more information.

This is a single stage Pokemon. Duskako can not evolve.

Abilities: Pick One

Immunity: You can feel the sharp sting followed by a faint pain fill your body, but to you it's nothing. The poison they are trying to inject into you has no effect. Well, that sucks for them.

You are immune to the poison condition and have resistance to poison damage.

Healer: You look around at your friends; they’re not doing so well. You only have time to help one of them, so it will have to be…..

You can cast the lesser restoration spell once per long rest without using a spell slot. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Curious Medicine: It has taken you a whale, but you have finally finished the potion you have been working on for ages. Its strange, and a bit unorthodox, but with its help your allies should be safe from harm.

As a bonus action you may touch a friendly creature and cause them to be unable to roll at advantage or disadvantage till the start of your next turn.

Evolution Trait

Detect and Cure Poisons and Diseases: When you are around diseased things the white parts of your body quickly dip in temperature you also can cure sicknesses simply by touching them. You may use the ‘Detect Poisons and Disease’ or ‘ Cure Poisons and Diseases’ 2 times per long rest. This is a temporary trait, when the sheet is finished it will be updated.


Duskako muttered quietly under his breath as he sorted the many potions and vials on his store shelves. Growing up he had always been told that helping to heal and cure others would make him feel fulfilled in life, but he had been running this remedy shop for the past 4 years and didn’t feel like he was going anywhere or doing much for anyone. Sure every once and awhile someone would wander in that was close to death and he would slowly revive them back to a stable state, but then they would just go out and get hurt all over again.
