Ampharos: Electric Type

Ampharos stood on top of the cliff, staring at the raging ocean below her as raindrops pelted her face. This storm was the biggest one she had ever seen. There was little to no chance that they would be able to sail through it. The light from her tail shone bright as she mumbled a quick prayer under her breath. The only thing she could do to help them now was stand here and be a beacon. She could only hope they would be able to spot her.

Ampharos tails glow very bright. They use them as a guide or a beacon for others to follow in dangerous areas, and will build their homes around areas where they can warn others of danger such as near raging oceans where they will spend their rainy days using their bright tail like a lighthouse warning others or dangerous cliffs. Although they are often paid by nearby towns to do this, some are not but still do it to protect others. Their horns collect static electricity from all around and they use the static to make their tail shine. The more static they have built up, the brighter their light is.

Ampharos have the ability to choose whether or not their tails glow and use this ability on occasion to send signals over large areas to others like a type of morse code. Some Ampharos’s light can even be seen from space, which is why most Ampharos keep their tail light off as to not blind other Pokemon around them when they are not being used.

Ampharos will often live on top of the largest point in any one area. There is a vast network of Ampharos all over the globe who deliver messages over entire regions. By sending signals to one another and passing messages on, the information can quickly gets to where it needs to go although sometimes the message can be misinterpreted and scrambled if one ampharos in the line misreads it.

Ampharos Traits

Allignment: Ampharos have a kind heart and will help most others out if they need it often sacrificing their own comfort to help out a lost or injured soul. However, if you do something to betray their trust, they will hold it against you indefinitely and never help you out again.

Racial Ability score increase

Your rubberized body has caused you to be able to withstand harsh conditions and your mastery of elemental energy allows you to control electricity with ease. Choose your Wisdom or Constitution ability score and increase it by +1. See rules on racial ability score increase for more information.


This is the final evolution of this line. Ampharos can no longer evolve, however it can mega evolve at level 15. (See Mega Ampharos for upgrades)


Your tail can let off a soft glow. If you choose to, you can cause a 20 foot area around you to be lightly illuminated. This is a temporary trait, when the sheet is finished it will be updated.

Upon evolution many Pokemon change their name to better fit their new form and their new lifestyle. Some possible new names a Ampharos might take on are: Denryu, Pharamp, Amphy, Ampharos, Jeonryong, Dianiong or Amfaros.

Abilities: Pick One

Static: Electricity flies around you making loud popping noises. Your hair, as always, is on end. When your opponent approaches you the electricity flies from you to them jumping all over their body.

When you get hit with a melee strike you may use a reaction to force the foe to make a Dexterity saving throw, if failed they gain the ‘shocked’ condition. You can use this ability the number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. Your DC save is 8+Proficiency bonus+Constitution.

Plus: You can’t do this, there is no way you will be able to take down this foe. You feel something touch your shoulder and look around. Your friend stands above you and smiles. Well, maybe if you had them there to help you… then you could.

All creatures, besides you, with the ability minus or plus add your proficiency modifier all there damage dealing spells. A creature may only have either the Minus or the Plus ability applied to them, if both are present then they must pick one.

Mold Breaker: That old ability, please. You have seen it done a thousand times before, there is no way you will let it affect you.

When attacking a foe, their ability is negated.

Evolution Trait

Flash: You know a secret language shared between many electric type Pokemon that is only communicated through a series of flashes. Not only can you read this language, but by blinking your tail, you can also communicate with this language over large distances to other electric type Pokemon. This is a temporary trait, when the sheet is finished it will be updated.

Ampharos sat on an old, rotted log. There was a handful of Pokemon scattered around him sleeping. It had taken a few hours for all of them to fall asleep, but the exhaustion from walking all day had finally caught up to them. This would be his last time through this forest; after this, he would be done guiding others. He had done this for years now, and it had brought him nothing but trouble. He was ready to settle down himself and start a normal life. A young Oddish’s eyes flashed open, looking directly at him. She smiled and quietly said, “Thank you mister, for helping us get home.” Okay, maybe he would go through one more time. After all, he did know the way better than anyone else.
