Abra: Psychic Type

As Abra cast his spell, he could feel the psychic power quickly draining. He couldn't stay awake much longer, but if he fell asleep now in the middle of this fight, his friends would be left without a healer. He couldn't go to sleep now, he needed to stay awake just a little bit longer. He slapped his face in an attempt to help his eyes stay open, but it wasn’t helping, it wasn’t enough of a shock to pull him back from the brink of sleep. He looked down at his hand, a small dagger clenched in it. If a slap wasn’t enough pain to keep him awake, perhaps a well placed slice could do it. He took a deep breath and readied the dagger above his leg, his hand shaking. He didn’t want to do this, but he had to protect his friends.

Sleep Walking

You are almost always resting and thus in a state of constant long rest. After 4 hours of long rest you are fully rested and all long rest actions reset, however taking damage immediately interrupts the rest and you must restart the long rest from the beginning to gain any of its benefits. You can do any action when you are asleep that you normally would do when you are not resting, but your personality is wildly different then when you are awake.


Abra need to sleep at least 18 hours a day to retain their psychic powers. If they don’t get enough sleep a splitting headache will start to form on the front of their brains leaving them throbbing until they go to sleep. By hypnotizing themselves and going into a trance like state they are still able to react to things around them while passed out. They will occasionally use small trinkets or items such as a pocket watch or coin to help them enter this deep level of sleep. The side effect of entering into this sleep state is an extreme shift in personality from what they normally are when they are awake. This wild change in personality can cause some creatures to stay far away from Abra as they are hard to predict. When they are unconscious Abra are still able to sense their surroundings and can feel if danger is nearby, if they feel unsafe they will often teleport away rather than attack.

Multi Personality

If Abra don’t get enough sleep, their psychic powers start to weaken, so a strict sleep schedule is mandatory. Although they can seemingly act on their own when they are asleep, when they wake up Abra have no recollection of what happened and may panic if the situation they find themselves in is startling. Some Abra will leave notes to themselves to let them know what happened when they were awake or asleep. The preferred method however of retaining information is to have an ally nearby that they trust that can fill them in on things that happened while they were asleep.

Sleep Walking

Abra spend most of their time sleeping, and even though they can do things as they sleep, most prefer to sleep in a bed and waste the day if they are allowed to. You can often find them asleep in their homes, or laying in open feilds enjoying the sun as they rest. However, if you sneak up on them they will be quick to teleport away.

Abra Traits

Allignment: It is hard to get to know an Abra due to the fact that they will often teleport away if you startle them. However most Abra, when awake, tend to be kind natured and rather pleasant Pokemon to be around, but are quite the opposite when they are asleep often becoming rude and stubborn.

The average lifespan of the Abra line is about 100 years. They reach maturity around 17 years old but are not considered to be adults till they are 23. As they get older they will become more and more tired with many Abra who are over 100 years old sleeping nearly 24/7 attempting to recharge their psychic energy to what it once was but failing to do so. Because of this there are a number of locations that take care of large groups of older abra, helping them to get along with others in their unconscious state.


You can speak, read and write Common and Tankonian. Many Abra have a slur to their speech when they are asleep, as if they aren't quite able to control their mouth to enunciate properly. When awake they will speak clearly and deliberately.


There are 30 natures, pick a nature that best describes your character. Increase and decrease the appropriate stat accordingly.

Racial Ability score increase

Your smart brain and awareness of the area around you helps you get around in your constant state of sleep. Choose your Intelligence or Wisdom ability score and increase it by +1. See rules on racial ability score increase for more information.


No Pokemon has to evolve, but if Abra wishes to evolve it may do so at level 5(see Kadabra for upgrades)

Abilities: Pick One

Synchronize: You watch what your enemy is doing and can start to see a pattern in their attacks. So that's how they do that. Now that you know their secret, it's your turn to hit them.

When you gain a condition you may use your reaction to give the same condition to the creature who gave you the condition.

Inner Focus: You close your eyes and everything around you seems to slow down. You can see your opponents; they are hiding and seem to think they have the upper hand. That's cute, as soon as they get close enough you will destroy them.

You can not be surprised. If a surprise round is initiated in your party you may attack that round.

Magic Guard: You watch as your foes start to chant under their breath. You raise your hand and the light around you shimmers and you grin. Just let them try to hit you with a spell.

You can use your reaction to gain advantage on a save against a spell or impose disadvantage on a spell attack targeting solely you.

Evolution Trait

Sixth Sense: When you are asleep, you may use the spell ‘Detect Evil and Good’ without using a spell slot or components. You may use this trait an amount of times per long rest equal to your Wisdom Modifier.

Abra was getting close to the end of her nap time, but she didn't want to wake up. Her dream was so nice. She was on a large, white sand beach all by herself, enjoying the sun. It was a good break from her real life. From off in the distance she heard someone yell her name. No, she didn't want to wake up, not yet at least. Someone called out to her again, but this time louder and it sounded panicked. Fine. She slowly opened her eyes and pulled herself from her deep slumber. It took her a moment to comprehend what was going on around her. A great axe was in her hands hovering inches away from her friend's face. What had happened while she was asleep?
